Stop giving it all away!

Are you a giver like me? Have a hard time telling people no? People pleaser?

Don't feel bad if you've given out more than you should have but this blog is here to encourage you to start choosing you first and start being okay with saying NO!

When I look back over the last couple months, I realize that I've produced good financial habits in one area but still had poor habits in other areas.

I realized that when it came to saving, I was doing pretty darn good (something I was poor at in the past) but while my savings were growing, and I was becoming more disciplined at saving, my people pleasing skills needed to decrease.

I couldn't understand where all my money was going. Why was I still stuck? Then I looked around and realized I had given it all away 😱😒🫠

So, I had to do something differently and this is what I did:

  • I started saying NO! this is a word that a giver has a really hard time using but I realized that saying NO to others was me saying YES to myself and YES to my financial growth.

  • I chose to stop people pleasing. As givers we want to please others by helping them and getting them out of a financial bind; but never get others out of a financial bind at the expense of you ending up in one.

  • I chose discipline. Just like you need discipline to save money you also need discipline to not give it all away. You must discipline yourself to say no when you really don't have it to give.

  • I created a giving fund: Let's be real, I still want to give and help others. The giving fund allows me to put a limit on how much I can and am willing to give out. Whatever amount I decide to put in this fund that's the amount I can afford to give out. If no money is in this fund, then I can't afford to give it away.

Choose Financial Stability:

Not giving all your money away is one way to maintain financial stability. It's okay to give but don't put yourself in financial distress trying to fix other people's money problems. It's okay to put you first! even if they don't understand. If someone gets upset because you can't help them, you have to be okay with knowing that there's nothing you can do, be okay with not giving away your last. Be content in knowing that no matter how uncomfortable it may feel to say NO, you will have comfort in knowing that your finances are well because you didn't give it all away. Giving is a good thing, you will be blessed when you give, but we must also learn to give wisely!

Thank you for sharing!!! Yes, saying no is definitely going to help me in this season. Sometimes we don't realize the problem is being a yes person and that saying no can sometimes be the solution to our financial problems. Appreciate your comment. 🙂
